It's July: no politics until August.
Roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer!

Global Warming Works for Me

One of those inconvenient truths about global warming, such as it is, is that the primary effect is warmer nights and winters. That's a good thing, right?

Not that we're seeing much evidence one way or another this year, but the past few days and the week ahead look wonderful. I went out walking, over ten miles both Saturday and Sunday, and both days I felt I could have done twice that.

I only wish it didn't get dark so early!

Excellent Job Mr. Newman - glad to hear you weren't inside watching the snoozer of a NASCAR finale!

Don't we need a blog on what's wrong with NASCAR? My thoughts:
1) It isn't right that 5 guys had a mathematical chance to win on Sunday. That makes it nothing more than the role of the dice. Fortunately, Jimmie won and he deserved it as having the best team all year. Can you imagine had Hamlin won while the others wrecked?
2) Let the boys have their personality back! With all the political correctness (driven by pts and $) required by NASCAR, the avg fan has lost their ability to relate. How unrealistic is it that after Dale Jr gets spun out in Talladega that he can't share what he's really feeling.... what all his fans were feeling! That Vickers is a punk nobody that needs his butt kicked (in victory lane!)
3) Good grief - eliminate the road courses and minimize the 1.5 milers -and give us some short tracks where the cars beat and bang into each other a bit more - let the best drivers shine.
Thanks Brain France and Mike Helton for screwing up the most incredible sport in pursuit of the almighty buck....

I'm watching the end of the race here Monday night (DVR), what little NBC is showing anyway. Pretty dull race I must admit.

Now you admit - that you can't wait for Daytona, regardless!
